Why am I getting the message Subscriber ID is an invalid format for Medicare?
Subscriber ID is an invalid format for Medicare
The general format for the Medicare Beneficiary ID number is 0000-000-0000, 11 characters in length. This ID is made up of only numbers and upper case letters. Effective January 1, 2019, on the MBI may be used to submit Medicare claims.
- MBI's are numbers 0-9 and all letters from A to Z except S, L, O, I, B and Z.
- Users can set the ID length within the Insurance Plan setup by following these steps:
- Open Tables o Select Insurance
- Select Insurance Plan
- Search for the Medicare plan and open
- Select the Information Tab
- Indicate 11 in the ID length field

When users input the ID and this is not set to the appropriate length, pop up message will appear.

Medevolve has also created a claim rule in Tables>Insurance>Claim Rules
- Ins ID Less than 11 Chars
Once the Unprocessable Claims Report is ran, the accounts with less than 11 characters will be shown on the report to be corrected.
